Getting Started Guide

How to Get Ready for Your Website

(A.K.A. How to Not Hold Up Your Own Damn Website Build)

What We’ll Need From You

1. Your Thoughts on Design

We need to know what you like (or at least what you hate). Here’s what helps:

  • Any colors, styles, or vibes you want.
  • Websites you love (or hate, we can work with that too).
  • If you have no idea, that’s fine—just tell us what you don’t want, and we’ll take it from there.

2. Your Existing Website (If You Have One)

  • Do you already have a website? Drop the URL and tell us:
    • Why do you want a redesign? (Is it ugly? Does it not work? Is it sending you threatening letters?)
    • What’s working, what’s not, and what needs to change?

3. Your Logo (The Best Version You Have)

  • High resolution, please. Blurry logos make us sad.
  • If you don’t have one, we can recommend a designer to create one for you.

4. Images & Graphics

  • Any photos, graphics, or brand assets you want included.
  • No images? No problem. We’ve got access to stock images, so just tell us what kind of vibe you’re going for.

5. Information for Your Page Structure

Every industry’s website is a little different, but almost everyone needs 5 core pages. Here’s a breakdown of the most common ones:

Standard Business Website (Service-Based Business)

Home Page – What you do, why you’re great, and a clear call to action.
About Page – Who you are, why you started, and what makes you special.
Services Page – List what you offer, pricing (if applicable), and benefits.
Portfolio or Testimonials – Social proof, case studies, or examples of work.
Contact Page – Your email, phone, or a form to get in touch.

Personal Brand / Freelancer Site

Home Page – Your name, what you do, and who you help.
Portfolio Page – Show off your work with images or case studies.
Services Page – What you offer, pricing, and how to book you.
Testimonials Page – Social proof from happy clients.
Contact Page – A way for people to reach you.

Restaurant / Food Business

Home Page – Who you are, what kind of food you serve.
Menu Page – What’s on the menu, with pricing if possible.
About Page – Your story, philosophy, or chef bio.
Gallery or Reviews – High-quality food photos and customer testimonials.
Reservations / Contact – Online booking or a contact form.

One-Page Websites

Even if you’re going with a single-page website, you still need enough content to fill multiple sections. Your site will likely have:

  • A hero section (eye-catching intro).
  • An about section (who you are).
  • A services or offerings section (what you do).
  • A testimonials section (why people trust you).
  • A contact section (how to reach you).

Plan your content accordingly so it doesn’t feel bare-bones.

6. Blog – Yes or No?

Do you want a blog on your site? Blogs are great for SEO and keeping visitors engaged, but they require upkeep. If you want one, we’ll set it up. If not, we won’t waste the space.

7. Contact Form – What Do You Need?

Every website has a contact form, but what you ask for matters. Think about:

  • What’s essential? (Name, Email, Phone, Message)
  • Do you need appointment scheduling?
  • Do you need dropdowns for services or options?
  • Do you want to collect additional info? (Budgets, preferred contact method, etc.)

💡 Tip: Keep your form simple—too many fields, and people won’t fill it out. Let us know if you have any specific fields you need added!

8. Contact Info

  • Email for website inquiries.
  • Phone number (if applicable).
  • Any other relevant info (social media links, booking links, etc.).

9. Domain & Hosting Details

  • Do you have a domain name yet? If not, we can help you get one.
  • Where is your website hosted? (GoDaddy, SiteGround, Bluehost, etc.)
  • If you don’t have hosting, do you want to use ours for $29.99/month? (Faster launch, no hassle.)
